In what can be seen as a bid to buy some time until the next gen model arrives in 2017, GM India is readying a Chevrolet Cruze facelift based on the existing generation. The sedan is expected to get minor cosmetic tweaks and equipment upgrades.
New Cruze facelift would sport a larger dual-port grille, headlamps with daytime running lights, and a reprofiled bumper with new foglamps and additional chrome elements. The profile is expected to stay intact while the rear may get minor tweaks.
The interior is most likely to continue as it is save for the addition of new MyLink touchscreen infotainment system which was first seen in the Trailblazer SUV. The system incorporates reverse parking camera, Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition, etc.
The 2.0-litre diesel engine which is mated either to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission would be carried over untouched. The potent oil burner belts out 166 PS and 360 Nm of torque. The motor has a claimed fuel efficiency of 17.3 kmpl (manual variant).
The Chevrolet Cruze facelift will take on the likes of VW Jetta, Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra and Renault Fluence in India. It will be launched at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo next month.
Speaking about the new gen Chevrolet Cruze, it will debut in India later in 2017.
