Chevrolet FNR is as perplexing as a concept car can get – 2015 Auto Shanghai
At Shanghai General Motors’ Gala Night, two models made their world premiere, Chevrolet-FNR electric concept and all-new Chevrolet Malibu. Apart from these 12 Chevy models were put on display at the event, of which Chevrolet Bolt EV concept and 2015 Chevrolet Captiva were showcased for the first time in China. This is part of General Motors’ celebration of 10th anniversary of Chevrolet, in the world’s largest auto market.
The Chevrolet FNR concept is an autonomous electric vehicle proposal, giving a sneak peak into the far future of mobility, courtesy of General Motors’ Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) joint venture in Shanghai.
Salient features of this FNR concept include futuristic capsule design, dragonfly dual swing doors, crystal laser head lamps and taillights, and magnetic hub-less wheel electric motors. The concept also envisions wireless auto-charge system. All these were engineered and crafted by teams with prior experience in developing pure electric concepts, with a mission to build a unique and intelligent vehicle for technology demanding young prospects of the future.
Features mentioned above were just for starters. Other examples include a plethora of sensors and roof-mounted radar that facilitate autopilot function, so that driver can swivel 180 degrees and enjoy the time better with the occupants at the back. All he needs to do is start with vehicle via iris recognition system and let Chevy Intelligent Assistant take care of the rest. We’ll leave the rest to your imagination.
