Chevrolet India reports March 2015 and Q1 sales decline
Chevrolet India March 2015 sales stands at 4,257 vehicles (PY 6,601 units), equating to 35.5 pct sales decline. P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India says despite marginal repo rate reductions in 2015, expected positive effects are not yet visible in the economy as banks haven’t passed on reductions entirely to consumers. In addition, economic slowdown continues to restrict industry performance. Chevrolet India does not expect a possible turnaround in the coming months.
He hopes interest rate is reduced in phases going forward, and government takes steps to improve consumer sentiment for increased buying activity towards the festive season.
Chevrolet reported sales decline all through 2014, and continued to do so in Q1 2015. For Q1 2015, Chevrolet sales stands at 13,244 units (PY 17,765 units), equating to 25.44 pct sales decline for the quarter ended March 31, 2015. Last month, General Motors India inaugurated a new dealership, Nova Chevrolet in Jorhat. In all there are now 9 sales outlets and 9 service facilities in Assam. GM India at present operates 245 sales points and 270 service outlets. 3S Nova Chevrolet facility integrates sales, service and spares to cater to cater to customers in Jorhat. Nova Chevrolet is headed by Dilip Baruah.
Last month, Chevrolet India launched the new Captiva. The auto manufacturer will launch its Trailblazer SUV in the same segment in 2015. In 2016, Chevrolet will launch its spin MPV here.
