General Motors India has unveiled their new SAIL U-VA into the Indian auto sector. This new vehicle displays a sporty new design and is being offered with enhanced space both in driver’s cabin and in passenger area which makes it ideal as a small family car. Once successfully launched, the Sail U-VA will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo, Nissan Micra, and many others in the Indian market. The company said the new hatchback is the first product manufactured as a result of SAIC-General Motors joint venture.
SAIL U-VA has been fitted with a host of safety features and an innovative infotainment system. Seen with a new collapsible steering wheel and window roll down system, engineers at GM have put in over two years of development and design into the new SAIL U-VA giving it a better insulation system while also ensuring that the drive is smooth and comfortable on Indian road conditions.
Chevrolet SAIL is fitted with a 1.3 liter engine offering mileage of 18.2 kmpl for petrol Sail and 22.1 kmpl for Sail diesel. Being offered in both diesel and petrol variants is an added attraction specially in times when buyers are showing more affinity for diesel engined vehicles, as the company targets an average Indian middle class segment.
Success of this vehicle has already been tested in Chinese markets where it has been launched prior to its Indian launch. The car was well received in China were it was rated as one of the best selling export vehicles. All components of this car will be locally sourced and it will be produced from the company plant in Talegaon near Pune.
