Citroen C3 Aircross 5-seater will get Puretech 82 and Puretech 110 engine option while 7-seater will only get Puretech 110 engine
Citroen is among the newer players in the Indian auto industry. Despite that, growth ambitions led the company to foray into multiple segments, be it ICE or EV. Now Citroen is introducing C3 Aircross, a compact SUV with 3-row seating. Citroen C3 Aircross will debut on 27th April, 2023.
Ahead of official launch, undisguised photos of new C3 Aircross have leaked. It gets an all-new front fascia, establishing visual differences from its hatchback counterpart. On the inside, there are roof-mounted new AC vents for rear passengers and a fully digital instrument cluster as well. There are 7 seats on offer and Citroen is offering both 1.2L NA and 1.2L turbo powertrains as part of the package.
Citroen C3 Aircross spied undisguised
The Citroen C3 Aircross gets gloss black elements at the front. Grille is split horizontally with a body-coloured element. Twin chrome strips don’t merge into its LED DRLs unlike on C3 hatchback. Fog lamps and reflector halogen headlights are likely to be identical to C3 hatchback. No LEDs or projectors.
Lower bumper gets a faux skid plate jutting out quite a bit, doubling as a faux lip spoiler. The swanky alloy wheels look similar to the test mule. It denotes either ‘x’ or ‘+’. Orange elements are absent on spied Citroen C3 Aircross. Maybe Citroen doesn’t want C3 Aircross buyers to “Vibe” (see what I did there?).
The larger C3 is feature-loaded on the inside
Citroen C3 Aircorss is even more feature-loaded when compared to Shine trim with C3 hatch. The main gain over C3 Shine is a fully-digital instrument cluster with a tachometer (about time). The said tachometer is circular and encases its speedo. Fuel level display and engine temperature display flank this circular tachometer.
There is an Eco (leaf) indicator as well. So, drive modes are highly likely. We’re not sure whether this display will show navigation info or not. The 10.2” horizontal infotainment display is similar to C3. It supports Android and iPhone connectivity wirelessly. Multiple reports suggested a different dashboard, but that is not the case.
Roof-mounted AC vents get their own blower with 3 adjustable fan speeds. The rear AC vents resemble those at the center console, unlike on an Ertiga. This is a neat touch. There are two USB outlets for third-row too. Both are Type-A. Automatic climate control is still absent. Price is likely to start from Rs. 8 lakh (ex-sh).
Seating Layouts & Powertrains
Citroen C3 Aircross will get both 82 PS and 115 Nm 1.2L NA petrol (Puretech 82) and 110 PS and 190 Nm 1.2L turbo petrol (Puretech 110) options. Puretech 82 only gets a 5-speed MT and Puretech 110 gets a 6-speed MT. An automatic option is likely to be on offer in the future.
Citroen will be offering 5-seat configs with NA petrol as well as turbo petrol option, while 7-seat configuration will only come with Turbo petrol option. Yes, there will be a third row, taking the seating capacity to 7. We even have a picture of third-row space. Position is slightly knees-up, but is acceptable considering Citroen C3 Aircross is only around 4.2m in length.
