Cactus M Concept based Citroen E-Mehari Buggy confirmed (Photos)

Citroen E-Mehari Buggy

Set for sale sometime next year, the new Citroen E-Mehari Buggy is based on the iconic Mehari convertible from the 1960s.

Citroen E-Mehari Buggy comes in with a four seater convertible SUV body structure and an all electric powertrain with its design and bodywork reminiscent of the original Mehari used by farmers and French military. To come in with a long list of customization options open to buyers, Citroen E-Mehari Buggy can be had in color combinations of blue, orange, yellow and beige.

Two roof colors of black and orange/red and two cabin color combinations of beige and orange/red can also be selected as per buyer preferences. Citroen has not declared pricing or volumes where the new E-Mehari is concerned while the company targets both fleet and private customers.

The electric powertrain is made in collaboration with Citroen and Bollore Group. Citroen E-Mehari Buggy will be powered by a 30 kWh Lithium Metal Polymer battery rated at 200 kmpl while top speed stands at 110 kmph. The engine can be fully charged in a matter of 8 hours via a 16A socket or in 13 hours with a domestic 10A socket.

Based on the Cactus M Concept, showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year, Citroen will be producing the E-Mehari at PSA/Peugeot Citroen plant in Rennes, western France from where the company also produces the Bollore Bluesummer electric convertible. Launch in France is planned for spring of 2016 while launch in European markets could be scheduled sometime at the end of 2016.
