Chunchunguppe Shivashankar Santosh, famously known as CS Santosh has added one more award to his kitty, and this one is the most coveted award he has been conferred with for his achievements in the field of motorsport – Motorsport Man of the Year 2015.
The 31 year old has always been the talking point of motorsport in India, especially after becoming the firstever to win Raid de Himalaya as a debutant. But when he became the first and only Indian to participate in the Dakar Rally, the pinnacle of endurance racing (9,000 kms), he was a Indian motorsport poster boy globally. At the 2015 Dakar Rally, Santosh finished 36th (there were 168 participants). He also played a huge role in helping KTM team mate Marc Coma, who finished first, showcasing skills of a team player.
Along with the Raymond Gautam Singhania Rolling Trophy, CS Santosh was also presented with a cheque of Rs 2 lakhs by FMSCI. Apart from CS Santosh, FMSCI also presented 17 year old Arjun Maini with Motorsport Star of the Future award for his success in the international Formula racing. Vijay Mallya, FMSCI Chairman was also awarded with Lifetime Achievement award for his dedication and contributions towards the development of motorsports in India.
There were a few others who too were presented at the function. In his key note speech, R. Bharat Raj, President, FMSCI said that he hoped that these awards will motivate these individuals to excel to even greater heights.
