Daimler India Commercial Vehicles win Apollo CV Awards

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV)

Having made its entry in India a short 15 months earlier, wholly owned Daimler subsidiary Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has won a few Apollo CV Awards. DICV has been named “Commercial Vehicle Maker of the Year.”

DICV-produced BharatBenz 1217C truck won the sector award in “Commercial Vehicle Innovation of the Year 2013” category. Designed for construction work, it’s the first tipper in its weight category in India.

BharatBenz 3128C received the award in “HCV Cargo Carrier over 25 tons” category. Last year, in 3 months after market launch, BharatBenz won two 2 awards in “Best Commercial Vehicle” and “Best Rigid Haulage Truck.”

DICV’s first BharatBenz CV’s in India were made available in September 2012. Product range expansion now sees dump trucks and freight-haulage trucks in 9 to 49 tonne segments. 4 more models will be launched by January 2014 end.

Since May 2013 DICV has been producing FUSO trucks at the India Chennai plant. These are destined for export to Asia and Africa growth markets. iN realising this growth chpater, DICV is working with Daimler’s Japanese subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) within the Asia Business Model framework.
