Daniel Craig drives the new Range Rover Sport into New York
2014 Range Rover Sport will be revealed for public at the 2013 New York Auto Show, starting later today. However, at the star-studded official unveiling, a few hours ago in New York, the new Range Rover Sport was officially revealed.
The event was broadcasted LIVE over the internet. Streets leading to the venue at Skylight at Moynihan Station on 8th Avenue were closed down, so Mr James Bond could drive down the all new Range Rover Sport. A mini movie was also revealed, which showed Daniel Craig driving the Range Rover Sport on the streets of Manhattan. The movie can be watched in the video below.
The first images of the Range Rover Sport SUV reveal the tapering roofline and dual paint finishes. The front and rear also sports a more aggressive stance while front design is sharper and sports smaller headlamp units, a small front grille and a sportier bumper. Rear design is accentuated by existence of wraparound tail lamps and a new bumper and scuff plate. The SUV itself sits on aluminum Premium Lightweight Platform ensuring that it is lighter by 420 kgs than its counterpart. This weight reduction means enhanced performance and superior power.
Range Rover Sport possesses a varied range of powertrain options. The base, LR-TDV6 DIESEL – The 3.0-litre LR-TDV6 diesel accelerates from 0-100kph in 7.6 seconds. LR-SDV6 DIESEL – The 3.0-litre LR-SDV6 diesel engine accelerates from 0 -100kph in 7.2 seconds. LR-V6 PETROL – The 3.0-litre LR-V6 petrol accelerates from 0-100kph in 7.1 seconds. LR-V8 SUPERCHARGED PETROL – The 5.0-litre LR-V8 supercharged petrol engine accelerates from 0 -100kph in 5.3 seconds.
New York is the biggest market for Range Rover Sport. More vehicle are sold here than in any other metro all across the globe. The new 2014 Range Rover Sport is also expected to grab a great deal of attention in the region following its debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show. Prices of the 2014 Range Rover Sport start from $63,495 (INR 34.52 lakhs) and go up to $93,295 (INR 50.72 lakhs) in the US. Deliveries commence this September.
