Datsun, Nissan’s low cost car brand will be showing the new Datsun GO-Cross Concept at the upcoming Auto Expo. The Go-Cross concept is based on the Go hatchback’s platform.
Still a concept, it is believed that the Go-Cross has been given the green light by top management. To be launched sometime in 2017, it will be priced higher than the existing Datsun GO hatchback and the GO+. It will be targeting a niche market segment.
Datsun GO-Cross Concept features a sporty and attractive exterior with a distinctive front end dominated by a hexagonal radiator grille, swept back LED headlamps and extensive use of plastic body cladding. Rounded fog lamps and a massive rear diffuser are also evident. It is expected to be offered in two versions – a 5 seater and 7 seater.
Apart from the Go-Cross, Datsun is also going to showcase the production ready variant of redi-GO compact SUV at the 2016 Auto Expo. First showcased as a concept at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, production variant of redi-GO has been spied on multiple occasions in the past few months.
Redi-GO will come in with a three cylinder petrol engine mated to a 5 speed manual transmission and will also receive an AMT variant specially considering the growing demand for AMT models in the country. Commanding 95% localization, the Datsun redi-GO could come in with a price tag of under INR 4 lakhs when launched in India.
