Datsun India’s new TVC: Babuji’s Maruti vs Ayushmann’s Go

Datsun is the third brand for the Nissan Motor Company along with the company’s Nissan and Infiniti brands. Datsun is a part of the Nissan Power 88 mid-term business plan and had an important role to play with its launch in one of the world’s fastest growing markets.

With an aim to sell about 5,000 units monthly, Datsun India is well short of their target. This in spite of having a one of the best value for money product in the segment. The reason, not many buyers in the segment are aware of their car, or don’t trust the brand. In order to get noticed, Nissan India Group has launched this new TVC.

Nayi Parampara Datsun Go’s latest TVC follows to the tune of “O babuji kya dekhte ho yahi hai Nayi Parampara”. Starring India’s famous Babuji – Alok Nath and young actor, Ayushmann Khurrana. In the TVC, Ayushmann is seen driving a light blue Datsun Go on the streets of Mumbai. At every turn, he sees people driving either a Maruti or a Hyundai (owners of all these respective cars are shown as ‘Babuji’ Alok Nath – highlighting the similar mentality of buyers in the segment). Babuji soon admires the the style, performance, agility in traffic conditions and sleek design of the new Datsun Go and gives in to ‘Nayi Parampara’.

Though in the TVC, Ayushmann is seen in the Datsun Go all alone, this new hatchback is ideally suited for five adults. Datsun Go, the five door, front wheel drive hatchback is powered by a 1.2 liter engine mated to a five speed manual transmission. It measures 1635mm wide, 1485mm tall and 3785mm long while it sits on a wheelbase of 2450mm. Datsun Go is produced from the Renault Nissan Alliance plant at Oragadam, Chennai.
