For June 2014, Nissan India reported sales of 4,362 vehicles over 2,949 units sold in June 2013 equating to 48% sales growth. While Terrano continues to fuel sales, new Sunny sedan launch is scheduled for 3rd July, 2014.

2015 Nissan Sunny FaceliftA refreshed new car could in its capacity further sales growth for Nissan. FY’14 sales to date stands at 14,684 units over 6,268 units for the same quarter last year equating to 134% sales growth. Nissan Group of India overall sales for June 2014 stands at 5459 units (Datsun and Nissan) over 2,949 units sold in June 2013.

Despite Indian auto market slowdown, Nissan has in recent months reported favourable sales. Only last week, Sunil Rekhi – Chief Financial Officer – Nissan India welcomed Union Government’s decision to extend excise duty concession for automobiles until 2014 year end.

Nissan India continues to pass on cost benefits to dealers and customers. Despite a strong boost for the auto sector, increase in freight cost, fuel price hike, high interest rates and a weak monsoon forecast all dampen the spirit of overall economic growth. Ongoing tough market conditions will obviously not turn positive in the short term.

Q1 2014 has seen Datsun take baby steps in India in trying to expand brand recognition here apart from taking its newly launched small car, Datsun Go to more and more markets across India. Go production is being undertaken at Nissan’s Chennai plant.

Through Q1 FY 2014, Datsun has sold 5,780 units of Go here. 1,097 units in June, 1,992 units in May and 2691 units in April. In March 2014, Datsun Go small car sales were reported at 2,072 units. In the period March-June 2014, 7852 units of Datsun Go have been sold. Having sold an average of 2000+ vehicles for the first 3 months, Datsun surely is watching the market with hawk eyes since sales last month has halved. Datsun GO+ MPV will be launched here next.
