David Brown Bharat Forge Joint Venture offers gearbox service and assembly centre at Hosur India

David Brown gearing experts of international repute have entered into a contract with Bharat Forge of India who are manufactures of automotive and non automotive components for a one of a kind industrial gearbox service and assembly facility. This new venture will be based in Hosur, Tamil Nadu and was officially declared open by Chief Guest Mr. S P Singh, Director NTPC Limited at a function which was also attended by various heads of both David Brown and Bharat Forge.

The facility is spread over a 56000 sq ft area and will house a service, repair and assembly line to offer support to customers in India. The plant is well equipped with all that is necessary to offer state of the art service, repairs and upgrades where gearbox maintenance is concerned while also making available new gearboxes for various power generation plants, metal and cement industry and also for the defence sector in India.

Mr. Kumaran Vajravel – Manager at the Service Centre displayed the range of equipment available at the Center for this purpose which includes a 100 tonne hydraulic vertical press lathe machine, milling machine, spray booth and other equipment required for repair and assembly operations.


The David Brown- Bharat Forge, the Indian joint venture between leading global gearing expert David Brown and Bharat Forge, a global leader in the manufacture of automotive and non-automotive components celebrated on Thursday the opening of its first industrial gearbox service and assembly facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, Indi.

The state of the art facility was officially opened by chief guest Mr SP Singh, Director NTPC Ltd at a ceremony attended by distinguished guests as well as the Chief Executive of David Brown- Bharat Forge, Venkatesh Subramanyam, Executive Director of Bharat Forge, Subodh Tandale and David Brown’s Commercial Director Gavin Money.

The guests were given a guided tour around the facility which is fully equipped with an industrial crane and has the capability to service, repair, upgrade and provide strategic gearbox maintenance as well as supply new gearboxes for customers in industries such as power generation, metals, cement and renewables as well as the defence sector.

The 56,000 sq ft for Hosur service, repair and assembly centre provides support to customers across India giving them access to more than 150 years of engineered gearing innovation and expertise. Service Centre Manager Kumaran Vajravel showed the guests a vast range of equipment including a 100 tonne hydraulic vertical press, lathe, milling machine, a spray booth and other service-specific tools and equipment alongside gearboxes from wind and steel applications which have already been sent to the centre for repair.
