Bajaj to ready Pulsar 200 RS inventory of 30,000 units before launch, owing to huge demand
Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is expected to be priced at around INR 1.1 lakhs ex-showroom. It will mainly compete with Yamaha YZF-R15, which too is priced similarly.
The entry level sportsbike motorcycle segment comprises 18 percent of the country’s biking industry. It is further divided into into three sub categories to include S1, S2 and S3. S1 refers to entry level sports bikes from 150cc to 225cc and have a pricing in the range of INR 60,000-1 lakh. S2 falls in the 150cc to 500cc segment and priced from INR 1-1.75 lakh while S3 bikes range 250cc to 500 cc and are priced in a range from INR 1.75-2.75 lakh.
Motorcycles from S1 segment register 135,000 unit sales, S2 registers 30,000, and S3 registers 1,000 unit sales every month. Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is in the S2 category, which currently is dominated by Yamaha and Royal Enfield with 84% market share. It is this segment which Bajaj plans to conquer with the launch of new Pulsar 200 RS.
The new Pulsar 200 RS is currently under production at the company’s Chakan plant. Seeing the kind of buzz generated with the launch of official teaser photos and videos, Bajaj Auto is expecting to receive huge demand for Pulsar 200 RS. Ahead of launch, Bajaj will keep an inventory of 25,000-30,000 units ready.

Competing with Yamaha YZF-R15, the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is powered by a 199.5cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine with triple spark combustion system. This engine is capable of 24.4 PS peak power and 18.6 Nm peak torque. Conversely, the Yamaha YZF-R15 which is priced at INR 1.21 lakhs receives a 149.8cc single cylinder engine offering 17 bhp. Hence it is not only in power and performance but also in pricing that will be an advantage for Bajaj Pulsar RS 200.

It will measure 2,060 mm in length, 750 mm in width and 1,160 mm in height while ground clearance will stand at 165mm. RS 200 will weigh 151 kgs, have a fuel tank of 12 liters and will be seen with full LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, dual projector headlamps and automatic headlight function. Sporting a sculpted seat and brushed finish parts, the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 is stylish and sporty. Bookings have been opened at company dealerships at a down payment INR 5,000 while delivery is promised by end of April.
