Denza electric vehicles to run on ABB fast chargers in China


Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology Co., Ltd. has selected ABB to supply fast chargers for its DENZA electric vehicle. The home wall-mounted fast chargers will be sold through DENZA dealers along with the vehicle. DENZA vehicle is rechargeable at a conventional wall socket for optimal flexibility.

“The DENZA represents a significant step in sustainable transportation for the Chinese automotive market. It was vital, that we have the right infrastructure partner to support this innovative concept,” says Arno Röhringer, COO of BDNT. “ABB is the ideal technology partner for us, as they have proven themselves worldwide including China with chargers and – equally important – the service to install it.”

DenzaChinese government has introduced a fast charging standard to encourage electric vehicles acceptance. The guidelines point to convenience of EV charging at home or in public. Public fast charging is expected to be rolled out in China in the near future.

The battery-electric DENZA vehicle world premiere is scheduled at the Auto China trade fair in Beijing in April 2014. Market introduction is scheduled for 2014. In Beijing, the 1st DENZA dealership will open in mid 2014, and soon after in Shanghai and Shenzhen. This JV aims to present DENZA as the safest and most reliable EV designed and engineered in China, for China.
