The mountain biking competition was organised by Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society in association with Cycle Federation of India and District Tourism Promotion Council (DTP)-Wayanad. Participants came in from 15 countries including US, France, Germany, Singapore, Armenia and New Zealand, apart from India.
Cyclists participated under two categories – International (Elite men) and National (Elite men). 3rd MTB Kerala championship ride is a 20 kilometre race. The route ran through Pancharakally hills near river Kabani at an altitude of 3000 feet close to tea estates.
Hero Action Team was represented by Devender Thakur and Shiven Sharma. Supported by Hero Cycles, and mentored by HASTPA (Himalyan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association) the team is keen in promoting mountain biking in India.
Pankaj Munjal, Co-Chairman and Managing Director of Hero Cycles congratulated Hero Action Team riders for the win, and their participation and efforts.
Gaurav Matta, Marketing Manager, UT Bikes says Hero Action Team has been participating in all major races in India having performed. Back-to-back wins at MTB Shimla 2015 and MTB Kerala 2015 is testimony to their hard work and potential. Devender Thakur won in the Men (Solo) category at UT MTB Shimla 2015 earlier in April.
