Hero Group founder Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal passes away

A first gen entrepreneur, Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal was responsible for making both Hero Cycles and Hero Motocorp the world’s largest entities in their respective fields.

Padma Bhushan Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal, founder of the Hero Group, passed away yesterday evening in New Delhi at the age of 92. He was the Chairman Emeritus of Hero Motocorp.

It was under his leadership that Hero Cycles Limited became the world’s largest cycle maker (a position which has been retained since 1986) and entered Guinness Book Of World Records. Hero Motocorp (previously Hero Honda Motors Ltd) too emerged to become the world’s largest two wheeler maker under his watch.

He also spearheaded the Hero Group’s diversification into the fields of auto ancillary, financial services, renewable energy, education and electronics.

Known for his humility, he will continue to be an inspiration to everyone in the Hero family.

Thanks to the solid foundation laid by Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal, Hero Motocorp has now equipped itself with in-house R&D, established a manufacturing unit in Colombia and is in the process of expanding into several international markets.
