Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neußer takes over as new Head of Powertrain Development at Volkswagen Group

With effect from October 1, 2012, Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neußer will be the new Head of Powertrain Development at Volkswagen Group. Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neußer, (52) will take the place of Wolfgang Hatz (53) who moves on to the Board of Management at Porsche AG in charge of Research and Development.

Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neußer has been associated with Porsche engine development unit since 1996 when he was Project Manager after which he took charge of the engine construction department in 1998 and went on to drivetrain development in 2001. He has been incharge of powertrain development at Volkswagen Passenger Cars since 2011. He holds a doctorate in mechanical Engineering.

Wolfgang Hatz started out at Project Manager for Motorsports at BMW in 1983. He is a mechanical engineering graduate who began his association with the Volkswagen Group in 2001. He was appointed as member of Porsche AG Board of Management R&D in 2011. Prior to this he held various posts at Porsche, Opel and Fiat.
