Police identifies driver of crashed Lamborghini near India Gate in Delhi

One of the directors of property brokerage firm Better Option Property Mart Pvt Ltd was behind the wheel of the crashed INR 5 crore Lamborghini Murcielago found abandoned near India Gate in the country’s capital on Wednesday night.

The driver of a yellow coloured Lamborghini that crashed near India Gate on Wednesday night has been identified. Allegedly a driver of a real estate firm, Better Option Property Mart Pvt Ltd, the driver who fled the scene of the crash has been identified as Gaurav Mavi. Crashed Lamborghini Murcielago was registered in the name of the firm and not in the name of any individual, and though identified, the police have yet to arrest the culprit.

Police affirm that Mavi was behind the wheel of the Lamborghini Murcielago  that crashed into a pavement while speeding at the Outer Circle of C-Hexagon, Copernicus Marg on Wednesday. While the car hit the parking at the intersection of Copernicus Marg and Tilak Marg, the driver apparently abandoned his INR 5 crore car and fled the scene.

Crashed Lamborghini Murcielago in question was brand new and did not even have a number plate. A case of rash driving has been registered under Section 279 of IPC. The car has smashed on hitting the pavement with its left side badly damaged. Airbags deployed on impact due to which the driver was unharmed and hence managed to get out of the damaged car and escape.

The crashed car was noticed by Constable Tej Pal at 1.15 am, while on night patrol in the area between 11 pm and 5 am while estimated reveal that the driver must have taken the car for a late night spin, probably unaware of the Lamborghini’s extreme acceleration capabilities.
