The swanky DS E-Tense concept two-seat sportscar has been unveiled in flesh at the ongoing 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The design study previews the now standalone French brand’s future styling direction.
Given that the DS is now positioned as a standalone flagship brand of PSA Peugeot Citroen group and hence is fully qualified to have a performance oriented two-seat sportscar in its portfolio. However it’s too early to comment on the production prospects of the E-Tense Concept.
The concept is 4.72 m long, 1.29 m tall and is full of flowing lines and accentuated surfaces. The striking LED lights on both end along with integrated DRLs are expected to be carried forward to upcoming DS models. The soft touch leather interior with aluminium elements is handcrafted to offer a premium feel. Also part of the upholstery is removable leather helmet bag.
Underpinned by a carbon fibre monocoque, the DS E-Tense concept is powered by an electric motor which puts out an impressive 402 PS and 516 Nm of torque. Electricity comes form a 53 KWh battery pack. 0-100 kmph is claimed to be achieved in 4.5 seconds en route to a top speed of 250 kmph. The car is claimed to have a range of 360 km in urban setup (310 km combined).
