Though the company officials did not reveal which bikes are going to be launched, they did confirm that all will be powered by a single cylinder engine. The three models are expected to be the new GT250R fully faired sportsbike, GD250N, a naked street fighter and a 300cc cruiser model which could be christened Aquila GV300. The Hyosung models will be brought into the country via the CKD route to be assembled at DSK assembly plant in Wai.

Hyosung GD250N was showcased at 2014 Auto Expo. It will be powered by a 249c single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected engine offering 27.6 bhp power at 9,500 rpm and 2.4 kgm torque at 7,000 rpm mated to a 6 speed gearbox. Engine specs of the other two models have not yet been revealed, but the bike will be launched by October 2015.

After this, the company will launch the GD250R. It receives the same engine and chassis setup, but will get a full fairing in the front. Not much is known about the new 300 cc cruiser, but could be Hyosung Aquila GV300, which will come in to replace Aquila GV250. Sepaking about price of these new motorcycles, the 250 cc variants are expected to be priced in the range of Rs 1.45 – 1.75 lakhs, while the 300 cc cruiser will be in the range of Rs 2.75 lakhs.

Apart from launching new bikes, DSK Hyosung is keen to expand its presence in India. Recenly, it has opened a new dealership ‘Urban Bykes’ at Main Rama Road, near Kirti Nagar Metro Station, West Delhi. This is DSK-Hyosung 42nd dealership in the country.

It will have the entire range of Sports bikes and Cruiser motorcycles from DSK Hyosung on show – right from the Aquila 250 luxury cruiser priced at INR 2.84 lakhs to the ST7 classic cruiser priced at INR 5.99 lakhs. Delhi being the company’s most important market after Bangalore, sales of around 22-25 units are predicted per month. The company is also expanding its presence to other cities across India and offering increased sales and service networks and 24×7 on road assistance.

There is a bit of contradiction in this report. You said :
“Though the company officials did not reveal
which bikes are going to be launched, they did confirm that all will be
powered by a single cylinder engine.”

And then you said you expect these 3 single-cylinder machines to be :
    1. GD250N
    2. GT250R
    3. Aquila GV300

Now tell me how can Aquila GV300 be a single cylinder bike when the existing GV250 is already a twin cylinder bike ?

    • Hi Arnold,

Single cylinder engine is more affordable. This is the reason they are planning to introduce them. Yes, the current GV250 has a twin cyl, but it is also very expensive; which has resulted in poor sales.

I am expecting the more expensive GV250 to be replaced by an affordable or similarly priced GV300, thanks to single cylinder.

      Hope this clears the confusion.

Completely agree with the part that singles are more affordable but just wanted to know if there was any rumour or hint from some company official which made you expect that GV300 going to be a single cylinder or was it just your guess. Simply curious.

        • Yes, a statement from company official 🙂
