The Ducati Panigale 959 has joined the Italian brand’s 2016 lineup at the EICMA 2015 in Milan, Italy. The fully faired ‘supermid’ sportsbike is basically a slightly bigger engined replacement for the Panigale 899.
Displacing 955 cc, the twin-cylinder liquid-cooled motor has a longer stroke than the 899’s unit. It is claimed to be the first Superquadro to have obtained Euro-4 emission approval. The engine gets new longer exhaust system, new timing belt covers and an anti-hop slipper clutch. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the new Panigale puts out 157 PS and 107.3 Nm of torque.
Visually, the Panigale 959 derives most of its elements from the flagship Panigale 1299. Compared to the model it replaces, the 959 sports taller windshield, bigger air intakes, revised tailpiece, new mirror stalks, and tweaked body panels.
The supersports motorcycle continues to be underpinned by a monocoque chassis with engine as a stressed member. The bike tips the scales at 176 kg (dry weight).
The lengthy equipment list includes Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), Riding Mode technology with Ride-by-Wire, triple-stage Bosch ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC). The trackbred sportsbike will be available in Ducati Red color option with black wheels or Arctic White with contrasting red wheels.
