At least two Maruti S-Cross owners on the Team-bhp.com forum who have purchased the vehicle before the huge price slash have received compensation (depending on the variant) from their respective Nexa outlets. This move indicates that Maruti is set out to compensate the early buyers of its premium crossover as a goodwill gesture.
A customer who bought the S-Cross 1.6L Alpha range-topping variant before price hike received a compensation in the form of a DD worth INR 90,000 in addition to free 2 year/20,000 km Premium Maintenance Cost Package/extended warranty. Another S-Cross customer reported that he received a free extended warranty package.
The first ever product to be retailed through Maruti’s premium Nexa dealership network got to a decent start but the sales performance in the consequent months was not up to the company’s expectation. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta which was launched roughly in the same time frame emerged as a runaway success. Most Maruti dealerships were already offering significant discounts and benefits for the S-Cross before Maruti slashed the prices by up to INR 2.05 lakhs (depending on the variant).
The Maruti S-Cross is available with two diesel engine options. The base engine is a 1.3-litre DDiS 200 unit which is mated to a 5-MT to generate 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. The range-topping mill is a 1.6-litre DDiS 320 unit which is paired with a 6-MT to deliver 120 PS and 320 of torque. Both motors are sourced from Fiat.
