Eicher Polaris Multix is an affordable automobile which can be used as a personal vehicle, a utilitarian pickup van and even a generator which can supply electricity to small business operations.
Multix is powered by a 511 cc single cylinder diesel engine sourced from Greeves Cotton. The compact oil burner generates 9.92 PS and 27.1 Nm of torque. The transmission is a 4-speed manual unit.
Underpinned by a steel tubular spaceframe, Multix employs independent suspension adapted from Polaris ATVs. The vehicle measures 3,235 mm in length, 1,585 mm in width, 1,856 mm in height and has a ground clearance of 225 mm. The kerb weight ranges from 650 – 750 kg.
The most significant feature of Multix is the X-Port generator which is mounted at the rear of the vehicle. The generator is capable of producing 3 KW of electricity which can be used to power a house or business place. With electricity supply in India witnessing regular blackouts, the JV company says that this feature will ensure uninterrupted business operations.
Eicher Polaris Multix is available in two variants – AX+ and MX. AX+ gets open cabin and is priced at INR 2.32. The MX employs enclosed cabin and is priced at INR 2.72 lakhs (both prices are ex-showroom Jaipur).
The personal vehicle sports flexible seating configuration which can be configured in 3 minutes to extend the payload volume from 480 litres to over 1,900 litres.
Eicher-Polaris will commence operations with 30 outlets across the country. Test drives will start in July and first deliveries are slated to commence by August.
