The high power 5.1 liter Volvo engine delivers 210 hp and 825 Nm of torque
Eicher Trucks and Buses has announced the launch of their new bus – SKYLINE PRO 6016. This is a heavy duty bus, which is powered by a Volvo’s 5.1L VEDX5 engine. This state of the art engine is based on Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) tech. The new bus is available across all markets in India.
Heavy Duty (HD) Bus market makes up for more than 35 percent of industry volume. Skyline Pro 6016 will boost Eicher’s HD Bus portfolio. The engine returns 155kW (210 hp) and torque of 825Nm @ 1200 to 1600 rpm. The engine delivers peak torque at low RPM, and is able to hold this for a wider RPM range, which improves fuel efficiency.
Skyline Pro 6016 is reliable, and equipped with fuel-efficient Exhaust After-treatment system (EATS), 16.2 T GVW and EMS (Engine Management System). Intelligent features include engine protection system, intelligent driver information system (IDIS 2.0), and fuel coaching and cruise control for improved driving comfort and efficiency.
It sits on a DOMEX chassis and includes engine exhaust brake and larger pneumatic brakes for safety. Skyline Pro 6016 is available in multiple long wheelbase variants and an an option of lightweight 425 litre HDPE fuel tank for better performance on long-distance trips.
It features Mbooster+ tech so driver can switch between Eco+, Eco & Power modes depending on road and occupancy condition with focus on comfort and fuel efficiency. The design brings together a flat driver area, sandwich type compact engine hood, a bigger alternator and a larger clutch.

An Eicher Skyline Pro 6016 bus has been used to create a mobile COVID ICU unit, fabricated by Grace Cancer Foundation, Hyderabad. The mobile unit features medical functions such as an ICU unit, Cancer screening, Mammography, X-ray and sample collection. It also features supporting facilities for ventilators, imaging, tele-radiology, e-ICU, ultrasound and AI-based stratification.
Eicher manufactures a range of over 150 fully built and bus chassis variants across light, medium and heavy-duty applications, and are built at Eicher’s bus manufacturing facility in Baggad, Madhya Pradesh. Last month, the company announced the appointment of Kaleeswaran Arunachalam as Chief Financial Officer wef, May 6, 2020. He took on the reins from Lalit Malik who was CFO for the last 10 years, and continues as Chief Commercial Officer of Royal Enfield.
