General Motors India this week launched the Enjoy MPV in India, which marks their entry into a new vehicle segment. The Sail sedan launched earlier in the year was a well thought of move and has raked in numbers in terms of sales. Last month, 3436 units of Chevrolet Sail were sold. The company has set a target of selling a total of 1 lakh units during the 2013 calendar year and is optimistic about getting ther while riding on the success of Chevrolet Sail and Enjoy MPV, which has now been added to their very practical lineup of passenger vehicles in India.

Chevrolet Sail is doing well as an entry level sedan. The company is hoping for similar results where its Enjoy MPV is concerned. Enjoy multipurpose utility vehicle is launched at a competitive price of INR 5.49 lakhs to INR 7.99 lakhs as it comes in to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. This new MPV is expected to add more volume to company sales. The Enjoy is the third product from General Motors’ Chinese partners Shanghai Automotive Industries Corp in the past 6 months. The company launched the Sail UV-A hatchback in November 2012 followed by the Said sedan in February 2013. GM hopes to sell a total of 3,500 units per month as it competes with Ertiga which sells 5000 to 6000 units per month along with Nissan Evalia which has not yet made a significant contribution to boost sales.

Chevrolet Enjoy comes in at aggressive pricing commencing from R 5.49 lakhs and going all the way upto R 7.99 lakhs for the top end diesel model. Available in four variants in 7 and 8 seater capacities, Enjoy MPV is being offered with a choice of both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine Enjoy sports a 1.4 liter petrol engine, capable of maximum power of 104 PS at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 131 Nm at 4,400 rpm and is priced at INR 5.49 lakhs to INR 6.99 lakhs. Enjoy diesel counterpart is fitted with a 1.3 liter diesel engine, capable of producing 77.5 PS at 4,000 rpm and maximum torque of 188 Nm at 1,750 rpm, with prices ranging from INR 6.69 lakhs to INR 7.99 lakhs.

General Motors has priced the Enjoy competitively at about INR 40,000 to INR 70,000 lower than Maruti Suzuki Ertiga so as to compete on a war footing. Enjoy comes in with both style and performance which have been tailor made for Indian driving and road conditions. Enjoy sits on a 2,720 mm wheelbase and measures 4,305 mm in length and 1,680 mm in width. Being offered in 7 or 8 seater capacities, means, that the vehicle is ideally suited for larger families and for those who love to experience the outdoors. Enjoy is available in a choice of six exterior color options which include Velvet Red, Switchblade Silver, Summit White, Caviar Black, Linen Beige and Sandrift Grey.
