Ferrari 812 GTS debuts as the most powerful convertible – Specs

Half a century after the 365 GTS4, Ferrari’s first V12 convertible was revealed, the 812 GTS has now been shown off. Sporting the same engine specifications as the 812 Superfast, this new 812 GTS gets a folding metal roof that opens in 14 seconds at speeds upto 45 kmph.

Ferrari 812 GTS is designed by Ferrari Styling Center. It is based on the 812 Superfast and gets the same design language with Ferrari V12 front engine setup. It boasts of the same dimensions standing 4,693mm in length, 1,971mm in width and 1,276mm in height. Wheelbase is at 2,720mm while kerb weight is at 1600 kgs.

Exuding a high level of sportiness and sophistication, the 812 GTS gets a sculpted look and shortened tail segment with deep crease lines. It gets muscular wheel arches and sits on multi spoke forged wheels in a choice of three versions – diamond-finish, liquid silver and Grigio Scuro. It gets 275/35 ZR 20” 10” J front and 315/35 ZR 20” 11.5” J  rear tyres and also gets a retractable folding metal roof mechanism and large boot capacity.

Ferrari 812 GTS is powered by a V12 naturally aspirated engine which is the same unit as that seen powering the 812 Superfast. It offers 789 hp power at 8,500 rpm and 718 Nm torque which is guaranteed on acceleration and the engine gets mated to a 7 speed dual clutch transmission.

The most powerful production convertible car in the world, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in less than 3 seconds and command a top speed of 340 kmph. This engine performance was a part of optimizing the engine design with use of 350 bar direct injection system, control system for variable geometry inlet tracts and a system that allows for increase in displacement from 6.2 to 6.5 liters.

The Ferrari 812 GTS is covered under an extended 7 year maintenance program as is seen across the Ferrari range. This program covers regular maintenance for the first 7 years to ensure that the car performs at its peak. The maintenance intervals are once a year with no mileage restrictions and all maintenance staff are trained at the Ferrari Training Center in Maranello.

No price details have been revealed as on date but one can expect it at premium over the Superfast which gets a base price of £262,963. Deliveries are due to commence in mid-2020.
