The Ferrari 488 GTB, successor of the iconic 458 Italia, has been launched in India at INR 3.88 crore (ex-showroom). The first 488 GTB in India was booked a year and a half ago by a Kolkata-based customer.
The supercar is powered by a 3.9-litre downsized turbocharged V8 petrol engine which develops a tarmac fraying 670 PS and 760 Nm of torque. All that colossal output is harnessed by a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. With a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 3 seconds, the 488 GTB is blindingly quick.
Exterior design is an evolution of that of the 458 Italia. Elongated headlamps, wide air dam, several aerodynamic elements and signature circular LED taillights are the design highlights. The car measures 4,568 mm in length, 1,952 mm in width, 1,213 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. The kerb weight stands at 1,475 kg.
The 2-seat supercar’s driver-focused interior features a familiar Ferrari steering wheel with paddle shifters. A configurable instrument console, sports bucket seats and minimal centre console are the other noteworthy elements.
Ferrari India operates through a dealership each in Delhi and Mumbai, inaugurated late last year. Both dealerships have reportedly sold out their 2016 allotment already. The Ferrari 488 GTB rivals the Lamborghini Huracan which is already on sale in India.
