Ferrari 812 Superfast has been launched in India for Rs 5.2 crore (ex-showroom). This is the most powerful Ferrari created till date. The new car will replace the F12 Berlinetta in India, which in itself is a mighty beast.
Ferrari 812 Superfast has a 6.5-litre (6499 cc) naturally aspirated mid-front mounted V12 engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch F1 transmission with an E-differential.
Max power output is pegged at 789 bhp (800PS) at 8,500 rpm, and torque of 718 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The F12 Berlinetta it replaces topped runs on a 6.3 L V12 with power output of 731 PS and torque at 688 Nm.
Ferrari 812 Superfast lives up to its moniker and reaches from 1-100 kmph in a mere 2.9 seconds. Going upto 200 kmph takes 7.9 seconds. Top speed is pegged at 340 kmph. Gearshifts (up and down) are faster than was possible with the older gearbox. Electronic Power Steering (EPS) makes way for responsive controls (ide Slip Control).
While styling cues could traced as inspired by F12 Berlinetta and F12 TDF, Ferrari 812 Superfast comes with significant aero efficient design lines on the bodywork enabling the car to live upto its reputation. And while design lines are aimed to add that extra bit, every contour and line in this one adds to downforce.
The grille upfront while traditionally Ferrari, namely the aero cluster is widened. It houses an air duct needed for cooling the brakes. It also splits air for downforce. Bumper fins and gills over the headlamp help in cooling and air flow. Four rounded tail lamps greet you at the rear. Quad exhaust pipes along house a large diffuser.
The 812 Superfast features rear wheel steering. To two seater takes on GT offerings – Aston Martin DB11, and Bentley Continental GT. Colour options – Red, Blue and Silver. Rosso Corsa always works.
