Ferrari driver Felippe Massa running out of time, needs to prove himself soon
Ferrari’s Formula 1 driver, Felipe Massa is on the verge of being axed from the team as he has failed to perform this season. Brazilian driver Felipe Massa is a fan favorite but has failed to live up to his expectations since making a comeback from a near fatal crash he suffered during 2009 Hungary GP qualifying.
According to reports, Ferrari is looking to replace Massa with either Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg or with former world champion and ex Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen. Though Ferrari has denied the report, experts believe that the Brazilian’s time with the Italian outfit is almost over.
Earlier this week, Ferrari boss, Mr Stefano Domenicali, said: “I am counting heavily on Felipe’s will to fight back as he knows next year will be a key one in which, and I’m convinced of it, he will be able to show his true worth.”
With only 2 races remaining this season, Massa is running out of time to prove his worth. This season, Felipe has scored 98 points and is currently placed 6th on the driver’s points table. His best finish this season, has come during Malaysian GP, European GP, German GP and British GP, when he finished the race 5th.
Massa retired on 3 occasions (Spanish GP, Monaco GP and Indian GP) this season, but has managed to score points in all the races he finished except at the Turkish GP when he finished 11th. If Ferrari goes ahead with replacing Massa end of this season, it will be a huge blow for his fans around the world, especially in his home country, Brazil. For now, Massa still has a year’s contract with Ferrari.
