For the first time ever, Ferrari has organized Cavalcade in Italy, at the insistence of their Chairman Mr Luca di Montezemolo (who was recently crowned as Euro Manager of the Year). 2012 Ferrari Cavalcade is a drive through the history of Prancing Horse. The idea here is to give Ferrari owners a chance to drive their very own cars on the same roads where Ferrari has won legendary races like Mille Miglia and Savio Circuit.

2012 Ferrari Cavalcade kicked off earlier today from Bologna. All the 110 Ferrari cars which are participating in the Cavalcade, will undergo three ability tests at the Dino e Enzo Ferrari race track in Imola. The road then leads to Lugo, hometown of the Baracca family, with a visit of the Pomposa abbey. The day ends in Ferrara.

Tomorrow’s day is dedicated to the legend of Ferrari: from Modena to Maranello, with a date at Fiorano. After driving on the track the participants will visit the works. The way back to Bologna will follow the roads used by the Ferrari test drivers.

On the last day, a drive on the especially beautiful roads in the Appennines between Emilia and Tuscany to arrive at the Mugello circuit is organized. After a visit in Florence with the cars shown on Piazza della Signoria, the participants drive back to Bologna on the roads of the legendary Mille Miglia.

Ferrari owners participating in this event have come from countries like, US, China, Russia, UAE, Mexico, South Africa and many more.

2012 Ferrari Cavalcade – 28-30 June

A “cavalcade” on the roads and in the cities, which were and are connected to the history and the life of the Prancing Horse
The first Italian edition of the Ferrari Cavalcade, as especially desired by Chairman Luca di Montezemolo, will be organised on the roads and in the cities, which were and are connected to the history and the life of the Prancing Horse, on breathtaking roads through the splendid Italian countryside in Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany.

The goal of this initiative is to offer Ferrari enthusiasts the possibility to drive their own Ferraris on the roads – where in the past legendary road races like the Mille Miglia were held – as well as going onto the Mugello circuit.

But there is more: participants can enter and drive their Ferraris on the legendary race tracks of Imola, Fiorano and Mugello, where cars from Maranello have always been racing and won numerous times and where, in the case of Fiorano, the new road cars are developed. Here the stimulating and entertaining special stages will be held.

The legend of the Prancing Horse was born in Romagna. Francesco Baracca, the heroic fighter pilot from the First World War from Lugo, had a Prancing Horse Prima painted on his plan. The mother of the pilot, Countess Paolina, offered Enzo Ferrari to use the Prancing Horse as his emblem, telling him that it would bring him luck. This was the birth of the modern Prancing Horse on a yellow ground, the colour of Modena, and the colours of the Italian flag, as the symbol of the Scuderia Ferrari.

The Cavalcade celebrates the history, part of the most important values of the Ferrari brand, inviting the most loyal clients and collectors from all over the world.

Dedicated to all the Ferraristi

This first Italian rally was requested personally by Ferrari’s President Luca di Montezemolo, to offer Ferraristi the opportunity to go for a “ride” through the natural and artistic wonders of Emilia Romagna and Tuscany, through the streets and cities that were and continue to be players in Ferrari’s history and part of the Prancing Horse.

The goal of this initiative is to give enthusiasts the opportunity to drive their Ferrari on the streets that hosted epic road races such as the Mille Miglia, the Mugello Circuit and the Savio Circuit.
Not only: Ferraristi will be invited to enter and drive their Ferrari on the pavements of the Imola, the Fiorano and the Mugello racetracks, where Ferrari have raced and won and where, in Fiorano, the newest GT models are developed.

The Prancing Horse has been, since the start, the symbol of Ferrari, the emblem of a passion driven by exclusive designs and by victories, by men and great champions, and by an uninterrupted presence in the most famous races of the whole world. Ferraristi know this, as they know they have the right to Participate in its history, with an active and impassioned role, Cavalcade and its protagonists will write a new chapter in Ferrari’s history.
