Construction work begins at Rs 720 crore Ferrari theme park in Spain
To be constructed at an investment of €100 million ($112.3 million / INR 719.29 crores), the new Ferrari theme park, which is named ‘Ferrari Land’; is expected to be the most important project in the history of PortAventura Resort.
With construction commencing, Ferrari Land will boast of a host of activities and the latest of simulators specially designed to attract the attention of speedsters and F1 fans. It will also receive the highest roller coaster in all of Europe boasting of 112 meter tall vertical accelerator that can accelerate from 0 to 180 kmph in 5 seconds.
Construction of Ferrari Land’s new outdoor theme park at PortAventura Resort got underway in the presence of Arturo Mas-Sardá – President of PortAventura Resort, Maurizio Arrivabene -Team Principal of Ferrari F1 and Sebastian Vettel – Ferrari’s F1 team driver.
The event was marked with the dramatic entrance of Vettel in a Ferrari car while laying of the foundation stone was conducted. Construction of the new park is expected to be completed by end of 2016 with the park being thrown open to public soon after. A box containing the first stone of the project also includes a map of the upcoming theme park and a local newspaper which bears the mention of this momentous occasion.
Ferrari Land will offer a host of attractions, each of which are designed for families and Ferrari aficionados. Coming up at PortAventura Resorts, the park will take on the spirit and passion of Ferrari while the partnership between Ferrari and PortAventura Resort will enhance leadership position of being a foremost resort destination in Europe. The resort as on date attracts over 4 million visitors each year out of which half are tourists.
