Fiat Punto Abarth discount offer results in dealer selling 10 cars in 1 day

News of Fiat’s exit from India has saddened a lot of enthusiasts and fans. Those who can, are hurrying to the dealers, to grab the last few cars on remaining in stock. Not only fans are managing to get their beloved car, but are also getting a huge discount.

A few days back, a group of friends purchased 6 Punto Abarths on the same day. Each car was sold at about Rs 2 lakh discount. Now, a dealer in Coimbatore, has managed to sell 10 Punto Abarth on the same day. Automotive enthusiast Prabu Erd has shared exclusive images of the brand new Punto Abarth’s placed next to each other. The dealer who made the delivery, is SRT Fiat Coimbatore.

Fiat Punto Abarth is powered by a 1.4 liter T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine offering 145 bhp power at 5,500 rpm and 212 Nm torque at 2,000-4,000 rpm. It is mated to a 5 speed gearbox. The Punto Abarth is regaled as a fast sprinter allowing for acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.8 seconds.

It does a top speed of 190 kmph, making it one of the fastest cars in the price range. Unfortunately, this engine does not comply with upcoming BS VI emission standards and Fiat has no plans of updating the engine. Which has ultimately resulted in the end of the line for this brilliant car.

Same is the case with other Fiat cars on offer in India. None of the Fiat cars meet emission nor safety norms, which will come into effect in next few months. Parent FCA wants to focus on brand Jeep, and thus no new cars are planned under Fiat brand.

With Jeep brand gaining in momentum in India, FCA has confirmed plans to launch two new SUVs. One will be a sub 4 meter SUV based on Renegade platform, which will sit below the Compass in the company line-up. And the other is a 7 seater SUV, which will sit above the Compass. The former will compete with the likes of Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. While the latter Jeep SUV will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner.
