The Fiat Aegea production version has been spotted testing in Europe with minimal camouflage. The Linea replacement for the continent was unveiled in the form of a near production concept at the Istanbul Auto Show earlier this year.
The sedan which will meet the assembly line looks pretty much identical to the concept. The fresh design is composed of a wide hexagonal grille, sophisticated headlamps, contoured bonnet, a smoothly arching roofline, an accentuated waistline and boomerang shaped taillights.
Interior too has a fresh with a new dashboard design however, the chunky multifunction steering wheel and AC control dials have been borrowed from the 500X. Features include a touchscreen infotainment system, air bags, premium seat fabrics, automatic climate control and so on.
Without revealing much, Fiat had announced earlier that the Aegea sedan will be powered by a set of two MultiJet II diesel and two petrol engines with power outputs ranging from 95 to 120 hp. The fuel economy is claimed to be as high as 25 kmpl.
Fiat currently appears to be working only on the LHD configuration for markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. An RHD version may follow later. It’s to be noted that Fiat India is working on a sedan to replace the slow selling Linea but it’s unclear whether the new model is a RHD version of the Brazilian Grand Sienna or Aegea.
