Mr Nagesh Basavanhalli, President & MD, FIAT India at the global launch of Avventura

Fiat Avventura crossover has been designed in Italy, though specially keeping Indian road conditions in mind. Road clearance has been increased with 205 mm ground clearance and 205/55 16 inch alloy wheels.

Fiat Avventura was launched in Delhi today, and is available at a price range of Rs 5.99 lakh onward, to Rs 8.17 lakh (ex-Delhi). Update: Fiat Avventura price list ex showroom Delhi is as follows: Avventura Active petrol Rs 5,99,064 and Active diesel Rs 6,89,065, Avventura Dynamic petrol Rs 705,066 and Dynamic diesel Rs 7,65,064, and Avventura Emotion diesel at Rs 8,17,065.

Avventura is available with a 1.3 litre MultiJet diesel engine producing 91.6 bhp power at 4,000 rpm and 209 Nm torque at 2,000 rpm. Avventura will also be powered by a 1.4 litre FIRE petrol engine offering 88.73 bhp power at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm torque at 4,500 rpm. Both engines are mated to 5 speed manual gearbox and according to ARAI the petrol engine offers 14.4 kmpl while the diesel engine is capable of 20.5 kmpl fuel efficiency.

New Avventura gets new and sporty exteriors besides six body shades of Zafferano Orange, Bronzo Tan, Minimum Grey, Exotica Red, Hip-Hop Black and Vocal White. Interiors will receive updates to sport tan brown leather fabric upholstery and segment first high terrain gauges. Exteriors get additional body cladding ensuring a muscular stance while front fascia sports single piece mesh grill, projector headlamps, grey coloured front bash plate and adding to sporty looks are LED lights. On the inside, rear Ac vents, soft touch materials/upholstery, ambient lighting, and an infotainment system are on offer.

60:40 rear seat folding on the inside makes for flexible seating choice, and more storage. On the outside Avventura’s aggressive sportiness gets life through beefed up wheel arches. Despite its compact nature, ground clearance stands at 205 mm, similar to Renault Duster. Road capability ensures it covers Indian roads laden with potholes and crooked paving in a smooth manner. Based on Punto Evo, Avventura sports a tail mounted spare wheel. All around plastic cladding adds to the vehicle’s lower end. Skid plates and dual exhaust are in use. The sub 4 metre compact crossover’s petrol variant isn’t up for excise benefits.

Fiat India also explained that customer interest in Avventura has been on the rise since it’s showcased at Delhi Auto Expo in February 2014. Avventura looks to challenges boredom, and at the same time customers are offered something new that’s resplendent in Italian design, and as the name suggests, offers adventure. That’s where Fiat’s Italian designers stepped in.

Aggression and powerful are key aspirations, having drawn inspiration from a panther. Roof Rails imbibe Avventura’s sporty nature and remain lightweight in aluminium to not add weight to the car. 16-inch alloy wheels are standard across variants. Tilt-meter with an inclinometer to measure inclines, high terrain gauge, and a compass are part of standard equipment. Fiat Avventura has undergone 2,00,000 kms of testing, and is a car engineered in India. The contemporary urban vehicle’s ride and handling are optimum, and Fiat conducted a study across cities in India to find out what sort of a car consumers want.
