Unlike its competitors like Volkswagen Polo Cross and Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura may be more functional than the hatchback it is based on. For starters, Avventura gets more ground clearance – 200mm, that is 15mm more than Punto’s. Tailgate mounted spare wheel and body cladding on doors & bumpers provide rugged compact SUV stance, more appealing than rivals.
Features like compass, clinometer and tilt-meter are first in segment, useful for off-roading enthusiasts. Standard safety features like ABS and dual airbags are on offer. Interiors are carried over from new Punto, design of which is inspired by 2014 Linea. New headlamps, front grille, bumper, ORVM embedded turn indicators, redesigned tail lights (LED) and rear bumper mounted fog lamps are similar in Punto and Avventura.
Engine options in new Punto and Avventura, would include same 1.2-litre and 1.4 litre FIRE petrol engines along with Fiat’s flagship 1.3-litre diesel MultiJET engine.
Fiat India confirmed 4 launches this year. With new Linea facelift out since March 2014, next three to be untethered are Punto facelift, Avventura crossover, and Abarth 500, in the order. Launch of 2014 Punto is expected in August, Avventura by September and Abarth by December 2014.
