Behind the heavy camouflage on these crossovers lie the external differences between new Grande Punto and Punto based Crossover. Both the Fiats have similar silhouette except for protruding spare wheel mounted on the rear door of Avventura.
Fiat’s new crossover SUV will delight customers with broader tires, raised ground clearance, two-tone exterior, underbody cladding, protective side body panels, and the like. Interiors show cues taken from new Linea, but loaded with fun SUV stuffs like compass for navigation, clinometer and tilt-meter to put a smile in small time off-roading enthusiasts’ faces.
As it is based on smaller yet proven Punto, Avventura might gulp the same old 1.2 litre petrol engine, along with a choice to take 1.4 litre FIRE petrol engine. Diesel variant may receive the same best selling 1.3 litre diesel MultiJet engine.
With new Linea’s sales going well for Fiat and with increasing number of suckers for driving pleasure offered by Punto, Avventura might do well for Fiat as competitors like Toyota Etios Crosss and Volkswagen Cross Polo do not seem very tough to throw a punch. Given Fiat’s gesture of increasing the number of Fiat outlets and service stations throughout the country to accommodate new launches from June 2014, Fiat hopes to close this year with good numbers.
