The new Fiat Egea sedan is slated for launch in Turkey next month and it will make its way to 40 global markets. It will be produced at the Tofas plant in Bursa, Turkey. Measuring 4.5 meters in length, 1.78 meters in width and 1.48 meters in height and sitting on 2.64 meters wheelbase, Egea is a Linea replacement with boot space of 510 liters.
A 1.4 liter FIRE petrol engine offering 95 hp power and mated to a 5 speed manual transmission and a 1.6 liter Etorq engine capable of 110 hp and mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox will form petrol engine options. Diesel engine options include 1.3 and 1.6 liter units from Fiat MultiJet family. While 1.3 liter engine delivers 95 hp and mated to a 5 speed manual transmission, the 1.6 liter is capable of 120 hp and is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. Though yet unconfirmed, Egea 1.6D may also receive 6 speed dual clutch transmission from June 2016.
Interiors of Fiat Egea have also been detailed, displaying a flowing dashboard with a premium touch and silver accents. The new Egea abounds in features with a 5” touch screen display for U-Connect infotainment and automatic climate controls. More details and pricing will be revealed at launch in November.
Will the Egea be making its way to Indian markets? It is not yet disclosed but if it does, it is slated to replace the ageing Fiat Linea. Competition will come from Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and Skoda Rapid.
