Set to replace the ageing Linea sedan globally, the new Fiat Egea sedan will be launched in Turkey first. To be manufactured at Fiat TOFAS plant in Bursa, the new sedan will also be exported to 40 countries around the world. Sadly, India does not features in the list of these 40 countries, as here we will get a locally manufactured Egea, most likely by 2017.
One of the first countries to get the Egea (or Tipo, as it will be called in Europe) after Turkey is Fiat’s home country, Italy. Thanks to Fiat Italy, we now have an idea of what will be the price of new Tipo.
In Italy, Fiat Tip will be priced in the range of €12,500 to €19,900 (INR 8.91 lakh to INR 14.17 lakh). It will be offered in two variants – Opening Edition and Opening Edition Plus.
Being offered in both petrol and diesel engine options, these include 1.4 liter and 1.6 liter petrol engines & 1.3 liter and 1.6 liter diesel units. The 1.4 petrol offers 95PS power while the 1.6 liter petrol is capable of 110PS power. The 1.3 liter MultijetII turbodiesel offers 95PS power while the 1.6 liter MultijetII tubodiesel is capable of 120 PS power. All engines are mated to automatic or manual transmissions. The base diesel with manual transmission claims mileage of 25 kmpl.
Comfortable for upto 5 adults with sufficient head and leg room and a host of on-board connectivity and infotainment features, the Fiat Tipo sedan measures 4.5 meters in length, 1.78 meters in width and 1.48 meters in height while wheelbase stands at 2.64 meters. Fiat Tipo sedan possesses a 510 liter boot and sits on 17” diamond cut 5 double spoke alloy wheels.
