Fiat India to launch Jeep in association with Chrysler by 2013

2013 jeep grand cherokeeFiat India has revealed their plans for the year 2013. The major announcement is the launch of Chrysler’s Jeep in Indian auto industry next year. Chrysler is an American car brand, of which 61.8% stake belongs to Italian giant, Fiat. Jeep is a part of Chrysler Group LLC. In India, Jeep will be sold by Fiat Group Automobiles India Private Limited (FGAIPL).

Jeep specializes in developing SUVs. It is not a new brand for India, as Jeep has been manufactured and sold (under license from Jeep) by Mahindra in India earlier. In 2013, Fiat will not only invest more money in India, but will also increase their dealership network to 120 independent dealers along with existing Tata-Fiat dealers. Fiat Group has promised to launch 9 cars or upgrades in India next year.

“Our vision for India will revolve around a three-pronged strategy,” said Mike Manley, Chief Operating Officer for Asia and President and CEO – Jeep Brand. “First, introduction of new vehicles that will soon include the legendary Jeep brand. Second, the expansion of our independent dealer network and, finally, strong marketing initiatives that will continue to improve our awareness and brand perception in the market.”
