To be positioned above the current top of the line Linea variant in India, Fiat Linea Elegante will see many exterior modifications and interior updates. Sporting redesigned front and rear bumpers, side skirts, rear spoiler and a front grille with black inserts, the Linea Elegante exudes a sporty appeal with its black roof and alloy wheels borrowed from the Punto Evo. Interiors sport a touchscreen system which could make its way onto the other variants in the future.
Engine specifications on board the Fiat Linea Elegante are same as seen on the Linea diesel variants currently on offer. This will be in the form of 1.3 liter diesel generating 92 PS and 209 Nm. No petrol option will be on offer. New Fiat Linea Elegante has already made its way into company showrooms. Price of this new variant starts from Rs 9.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Fiat Linea rivals the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and Hyundai Verna. With average sales per month being less than 150 units, Fiat Linea is very much behind the competition when it comes to sales. This is also the story of Fiat Avventura/Punto.
But, Fiat India has plans to increase their sales. These include launching new products, and widening/improving sales and service experience. The next launch from Fiat India is that of Abarth 595 Competizione, which will take place on 4th August at BIC. After this is the launch of Punto and Avventura T-Jet variants with 135 hp motor. Both these cars are already being tested on public roads, and are expected to be launched before Diwali 2015.
In the meantime Fiat Chrysler, parent of Fiat India, is also investing $280 million to commence production of a C Segment SUV under the Jeep brand in India. This will start in 2017, at their plant in Ranjangaon, which they co-own with Tata Motors.
