The new Fiat sedan has been jointly developed by Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s (FCA) Style Centre and its Turkish partners, Tofas R&D centre. The sedan will be noted for its interior space, comfort and on board technology. It will be based on FCA’s Small-Wide Architecture that is also seen on the Fiat 500 range and Jeep Renegade.
Engine specifications on the Fiat sedan, which is yet unnamed, is expected to include a 2.0 liter Multijet II diesel engine and a 1.4 liter MultiAir turbo petrol motor. Each of these engines will be capable of 138 bhp power mated to manual or automatic gearbox. Other details are sketchy and will be confirmed once the new Fiat sedan is presented at the Istanbul Motor Show scheduled for May 21-31, 2015.
Following its showcasing at the Istanbul Motor Show, the new Fiat sedan will go on sale in Turkey in November following which sales will commence in 40 countries in the EMEA region that includes Europe, Middle East and Africa.
There are no indications as to when this sedan will come to India with the current Fiat Linea expected to be in markets for the next few years but it is estimated that the company will be showcasing the same at 2016 Auto Expo. Currently, with all three cars in the Fiat portfolio in India, number of Fiat cars sold each month is even lower than 1,000 units.
