Fiat Punto Abarth and Avventura Abarth test mules carrying T-Jet badges have been spotted testing. The test mules had their logo masked and sported trade certificate plates thereby ruling out the possibility of them being private mod jobs.
The duo sport exclusive alloy wheels, Abarth like stripes and roof-mounted spoilers on the doors. Punto carries T-Jet badge and chrome muffler tip. Whereabouts of Avventura’s engine are not known.
It is reported that Punto Abarth T-Jet would receive a hike in power to justify performance oriented Scorpion badge. While the turbo petrol exists in 114 PS of tune under the hood of Linea, Abarth variants are said to have around 135 PS on store. Expect reinforcements for chassis, brakes and suspension to handle the added power.
Coming to Avventura Abarth, Fiat could chose to slip in the same pumped up T-Jet as Punto or continue to use the 90 PS 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel with updated handling package.
Fiat is expected to open its Abarth chapter with 595 Competizione performance hatchback later this year. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India is likely to use exclusive upmarket outlets to retail Abarth products.
Meanwhile, FCA’s plans to launch Jeep brand in India still yet to materialize.
UPDATE 16th June 2015: New photos added. This time the car was spotted in Himachal Pradesh in a shade of white with red decals.
