The Fiat Punto Abarth which was unveiled last month on the sidelines of the 595 Competizione‘s launch will go on sale in October. With an estimated price of INR 10 lakhs (ex-showroom), the hot hatchback can now be booked at Fiat Caffes across the country for a refundable amount of INR 20,000.
The performance derivative of Punto Evo hatchback has been testing for quite sometime. The India-specific Abarth hatchback gets exclusive exterior paint themes, Abarth badges, contrast accents on grille and wing mirror caps, Abarth side decals and sporty dual-tone alloy wheels.
The spruced up interior gets special seat fabrics, contrast stitching and Abarth badges in place of Fiat badges. The hot hatchback also features sporty machined pedals.
The Punto Abarth is powered by a pumped up version of the 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engine which generates an impressive 145 bhp and a little over 200 Nm of torque. A 5-speed transmission drives the front wheels.
To handle the added power, Fiat’s engineers have lowered the car’s ride height by 20 mm, upgraded the brakes and stiffed the suspension system. Dual airbags and ABS come as standard.
Fiat Punto Abarth will target driving enthusiasts and will act as a brand shaper. The company is hoping that Abarth brand image will have a positive rub off on regular Fiat models.
