Fiat Argo Trekking with 210 mm GC is replacement to Punto Avventura

With sales exceeding 100,000 units since its launch in June 2017, Fiat Argo supercompact hatchback easily makes it to the list of Brazil’s bestselling cars. To strengthen its dominance and boost sales even further, Fiat has introduced a sportier variant called Argo Trekking.

This new crossover-ish variant has stylish exteriors, featuring contrasting dual-tone white and black colour theme. The black elements are evident on the roof, longitudinal roof bars, mirror caps, bonnet sticker, ‘Trekking’ decals on the sides and rear spoiler. Other key changes include new headlights with integrated LED DRLs, trendy alloy wheels, and updated rear bumper featuring trapezoidal exhaust tip.

Insides have also been upgraded for a sportier look and feel. Argo Trekking features dark fabric upholstery that has contrasting orange stitching and embroidered Trekking logo. Steering wheel gets a black Fiat logo and chrome accents have been generously used on the insides.

Other key features include power windows, fog lights, electrically powered side mirrors, and Uconnect 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Customers can also choose to install rear-view camera, different set of alloys and over 50 Mopar accessories.

Featuring crossover-like looks, Fiat Argo Trekking comes with sturdier construction and higher ground clearance. These indicate the car’s improved off-roading capabilities. Trekking variant offers 210 mm of ground clearance, which matches that of standard SUVs and is 40 mm more than regular Argo.

To ensure improved control on uneven surfaces, Argo Trekking gets new 205/60 R15 91H S-ATR WL tread tires. Various components have been retuned such as shock absorbers, springs, and electric power steering. These changes are meant to provide the best possible comfort on all terrains, be it city roads or the great outdoors.

However, Trekking will continue using the same engine as earlier, the 1.3-liter Firefly four-cylinder unit that runs on both ethanol and gasoline. When on ethanol, the engine generates 109 hp of max power and 139 Nm of max torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Fiat Argo Trekking is priced at R$58,990, which is approximately $14,800 / Rs 10.33 lakhs at current exchange rates. It will go on sale in Brazil by end of this month. India launch is not on cards as Fiat will shut down operations in the country this year.
