First Ford Figo Aspire sedan, called ‘Job 1’ rolls out of Sanand plant
Ford Figo Aspire is expected to join the compact sedan party in August to take advantage of the festive season. It is the first car to be produced by the automaker’s new Sanand facility which was inaugurated in March this year.
Certain dealers have reportedly started accepting unofficial bookings for Figo Aspire. Previewed by Figo sedan concept at Auto Expo 2012, Aspire sedan is essentially a booted version of next gen for Figo hatchback which will go on sale here later this year.
Apart from a stubby boot, the sub-4 metre sedan is distinguished from its hatchback sibling by means of different interior color theme. While the former sports premium looking dual-tone black-beige color theme, the latter opts for sporty all black appointments.
The Classic replacement will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine with variable valve technology and a 1.5-litre diesel motor derived from EcoSport. A 1.5-litre petrol engine with 6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic transmission (also from EcoSport) is expected to in the offing as well.
Ford Figo Aspire sedan will lock horns with Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and Hyundai Accent. The segment will see further additions in future including Volkswagen’s Polo-based compact sedan.
