First unit of BMW K 1600 GTL sold in India – Gift from Father to Son on Friendship Day

Ahmedabad based businessman, Kiran has gifted his son a brand new BMW K 1600 GTL on the occasion of Friendship Day, which was celebrated yesterday. He was also celebrating his wife’s birthday yesterday, and together the couple had decided to gift the most expensive BMW motorcycle to their young son.

Highly acclaimed as a performance touring bike, BMW K 1600 GTL is the most expensive BMW two wheeler on offer in India. It gets a more comfortable seating position with better placed handlebars along with lower foot rests. New and attractive colour schemes include Elegance (Ebony metallic/Blackstorm metallic, top), Lightwhite non-metallic and Thundergrey metallic.

BMW K 1600 GTL wears new xenon headlamps, integrated back rest, grip and heating seats, daytime running lights and adaptive turning lights. In terms of safety, K 1600 GTL has cruise control, ABS Pro and dynamic traction control. It is fitted as a keyless ride, and has hill start control and central locking, besides forged wheels and brake light.

Two variants are on offer – Standard and Pro. Standard is available at a price from INR 25.9 lakhs. PRO is priced from INR 28.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). BMW K 1600 GTL gets power from a 6 cylinder in-line engine, which complies to EU4 requirements. This engine is capable of 160 hp power at 7,750 rpm and 175 Nm torque at 5,250 rpm. R 1600 GTL will also be fitted with e-Call system Intelligent Emergency Call as an optional extra. However, it will be introduced in European markets by 2018 and will only be on offer in markets where ConnectedDrive is available, hence this feature will not be seen on the BMW R 1600 GTL on sale in India.
