Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo Concept by Pininfarina – 2017 Geneva Motor Show

Pininfarina has taken wraps off the stunning Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo concept at 2017 Geneva Motor Show today. We had the privilege of having a closer and leisurely look at the car during its private unveiling last week in Torino, Italy.

The low-slung supercar concept which derives its design inspiration from shark marks the launch of Fittipaldi motors which, as the name suggests, is a brainchild of the double F1 and Indy500 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi.

While Pininfarina was responsible for creating the brand identity (something the Italian design firm has never done before), design and aerodynamics, Germany-based motorsport specialist HWA worked on the chassis, suspension, and powertrain. Of course, the legend validated the car himself.

Underpinned by a lightweight two-piece carbon fibre monocoque which exceeds FIA safety regulations, EF7 Vision GT is powered by a specially made mid-mounted 4.8-litre flat crankshaft V8 engine which produces a heady 600 PS. Transmission option is not clear as of now but expect the track-focused concept to send all that power to the rear wheels.

EF7 Vision GT is suspended by double wishbone at all the corners. The supercar has a very low centre of gravity, and at a target weight of 1000 kg, will have a weight-to-power ratio of 1.66 kg per PS. Engineers have managed to achieve a near-perfect front to rear weight distribution ratio of 48:52.

It’s been 2 years since Pininfarina, HWA and Emerson Fittipaldi had their first meeting. Almost 1.5 years was consumed in planning on what sort of a car is to be developed. Pininfarina managed to start from a blank sheet and build the final styling prototype in a matter of just 6 months.

Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo concept by Pininfarina will make its virtual debut in the popular Gran Turismo Playstation4 video game.
