Following the introduction of Maruti Suzuki four wheeler bookings in Bangalore, Flipkart Automotive has quietly expanded its new platform to include two wheelers by bringing Bajaj, KTM and Kawasaki on board. However, like in the case of Maruti, the online showroom is limited only to the residents of Bangalore as of now.
Flipkart has tied up with Bangalore-based Khivraj Motors who is an authorized dealer for Bajaj, KTM and Kawasaki products. Any of the bikes from the three brands can be booked online through Flipkart for INR 3,000. Once the customer pays the booking amount, the e-commerce giant will provide the his/her details to the dealer who will then take the transaction forward.
Remaining payment, documentation, test ride, financing and all other formalities involved in purchasing a two wheeler will be handled directly by the dealer. Once the payment is made in full at the dealership, the order cannot be cancelled. Also, motorcycles purchased through Flipkart can’t be returned like any other product if the customer is not satisfied. As expected, the motorcycles are not eligible for cash-on-delivery mode of payment.
Snapdeal has been extremely successful in online retailing of two and four wheelers, and is now gearing up to augment its virtual automotive showroom. Flipkart is also apparently working on a similar strategy so expect the company to steadily expand its reach to various cities and automotive brands in the country.
