Ford 1.5-litre Ti-VCT Dragon Petrol Engine detailed – EcoSport facelift to get it first

Ford India strengthens its commitment to the Government’s ‘Make in India’ policy with the new 1.5-litre Ti-VCT, three cylinder petrol engine which will be made available for customers in India and for global markets. This new petrol engine will offer 123 PS peak power and 150 Nm torque and will be introduced on the EcoSport facelift later this year.

The new 1.5-litre Ti-VCT Petrol Engine promises to be both outstanding in power and performance and highly fuel efficient. The engine will offer 7% improvement in fuel efficiency.

This new engine downsizes from 4 cylinder to 3 in-line formation with reduced weight, lower friction and lower NVH levels. The exhaust manifold integrated into the cylinder head, aids in quick heating up of catalyst faster, thereby reducing emissions. The variable oil pump also operates at a lower pressure and at slower speeds to reduce friction and contribute to a higher level of fuel efficiency.

As a part of the “Make in India” policy, over 80% of the parts for this new engine will be sourced from Indian suppliers. The engine has been designed and developed by Ford’s engineering team in India with the new engine staying true to Ford DNA of being efficient and powerful but lower in carbon footprint.

The all new Ti-VCT Petrol Engine from Ford India will be introduced on the new Ford EcoSport facelift set to be launched later this year.
