Ford sold 126,834 vehicles in the Asia-Pacific region in August, reporting 22 percent growth over August 2015. Total market share in the region stood at 4.1 percent, Ford’s highest share ever for any single month.
Dave Schoch, president, Ford Asia Pacific said ‘Reaching 1 million sales so quickly is a testament to the growing strength of our brand and products in Asia.’ Ford continues to grow and reach new customers in Asia Pacific despite intense competition and challenging business conditions.
Ford’s growing SUV lineup sales are up 17 percent YTD over the same period last year. SUV sales account for 30 percent of Ford vehicle sales this year. Ford Edge sales in China are up threefold since its introduction last year.
Ford Mustang has created a stir in markets in China, Australia, India and South Korea. Ranger pickup sales are strong in Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Sales in China are up 22 percent compared to August 2015. Ranger and Transit sales in Vietnam are strong.
Peter Fleet, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford Asia Pacific says Ford is connecting with new customers with the most modern and expressive Ford lineup ever offered across Asia Pacific. Sales growth is foreseen in the region through 2016 and 2017. New Kuga with SYNC 3 is launching in China. Mondeo will be introduced in some markets later in 2016.
